In New York... In Seoul

My birthday was a little over a week ago and to celebrate, I was taken to a one table restaurant called "In New York". When I think of a one table restaurant I picture a big room with a table in the middle and a waiter or two standing in the corner of the room ready to serve you / eavesdropping on your conversation. The only ones I'd ever seen were in dramas or movies and I'd always pictured it being somewhat awkward.

I was incredibly surprised when I arrived at this small place tucked away in the quiet side streets of 신사동 (Sinsa-Dong). Greeted by the chef, he opens the door to a candle lit table with a classic black and white Audrey Hepburn movie mutely projected onto the wall behind it. The table and the small kitchen are separated by a sheer curtain that provides more sense of privacy and comfort. The chef cooks a delicious italian/french 6-course (maybe less, maybe more?) meal and you can tell that it is made with very fresh ingredients; I suppose that is a big perk to being the only clients, the food is super fresh and cooked perfectly! Overall, this place blew my mind and was truly a fantastic dining experience.

I've heard that these types of places are starting to spring up increasingly around Seoul and I can only hope that Montreal picks up on it soon as well!!

Sinsa Station

I saw these two guys outside of the subway station one night and couldn't help but ask to take a picture of them. More than anything I wanted their shoes. . . for myself. . . is that weird?

But really, Korean men dress so well.

Chanel Mystery Woman

Last friday was the last Chanel Pop-up event on 가로수길 (Garosu-gil). Although it was held at the same location as the previous week, the set up was completely different.

If you are wondering about the title of this post, it refers to a fabulous yet intimidating older woman that was present that night. She was dressed head to toe in black, including an incredible coat with a popped collar that was almost vampiresque. Her mannerisms and the way she would only crack the slightest smirk every so often made me think of her as an Asian Anna Wintour. When I asked to take a picture of her, she looked at me, gave me THE smirk, and then turned her head back to the manicurist. I decided to take it as a yes?

My friends and I also struck up a conversation with Chanel's head makeup artist for the Asia-Pacific region. He offered to do my friend Molly's makeup and we all watched him work his magic. I was speechless at how talented he is. And at how fast! What he did in 10 minutes would have taken me 45 and it wouldn't have looked half as good.

Here are more pictures from the event!

Chanel and Champagne

I've been so neglectful of my blog... I promise I'm coming back with many posts to come!

Last friday my friend brought a few of us to the 3rd week of the Chanel pop-up store which was on 가로수길 (garosu-gil), one of my favorite streets in Seoul.

The atmosphere was really great, people were not as dressed up as I anticipated but still looked really great. I guess I'm used to people trying to outdo each other at fashion-related events *cough* montreal fashion week *cough*.

Free champagne and Hors d'oeuvres. Countless Chanel cosmetic products to play with. Art made of lipstick tubes, brushes, etc. A Chanel claw crane. Gift bags with a flower arrangement. But best of all, people thinking we were models and snapping paparazzi shots of us... sorry were just white girls...

Can't wait for the 4th and final week!
